Top 5 School Essentials

Whether we embrace it or not, back to school time is rolling around. (It’s mostly Target and my Youtube subscription box which is telling me so.) Here are my TOP 5 essentials for school.

  1. Headphones.

Headphones are, and will always be, my NUMBER 1 essential. My school is very lenient with the use of phones during passing period, and after work is finished. Not only is this for my personal use, it’s helpful when teachers assign audio assignments. (Who wants to use those school headphones that they never clean, right?)

Okay, this one may just be me, and maybe you can’t relate, but I’m going to speak about it anyways. There have been an innumerable amount of times where I needed money, but didn’t have any with me. So, if possible, carry around a couple of dollars, just to be safe. You never know when your friends will want Starbucks right after school or want to go to a school basketball game.

3. Water

Being on the cross country and track team, means having to hydrate 24/7. Having water in my backpack is more than necessary. Even if you think a quick stop to the water fountain between class periods is okay, it’s not! If you’re constantly feeling tired throughout the day, it could be that you’re dehydrated! Carry water with you at all times.

4. Chapstick

For some reason, my lips get INSANELY chapped throughout the day and it makes me so uncomfortable. Having chapped lips means I lick them all day long, which makes them more chapped, which creates this ongoing circle. What I like to do is keep Chapstick in my pencil case because it’s always on my desk.

5. Emergency Case

Being a teenage girl means having to have supplies with me at ALL times. (I have the worst luck, so when I say all times, I mean ALL times.) My school doesn’t have lockers, so I keep everything I need with me in a small pencil case. This may be a TMI but this is what I like to keep in mine: pads, tampons, hair ties, and ibuprofen!!

That’s all for today! Let me know what you’d like to see coming up in the comments 🙂

Top 5 Netflix Shows!

I love Netflix. Who doesn’t, right? So I decided to share with you 5 shows I love, and I think you’d enjoy too. Some of these shows are similar, while others are very different. Let me know in the comments what your favorite Netflix show is!

  1. Friends

Friends has been a family favorite since before I was born! Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Joey, and Phoebe create an inseparable bond while living together in New York City. If you enjoy a good laugh, and occasionally some tears, definitely start this show.

2. 90210

This show MIGHT not be loved by all, but my friends and I are crazy about it. The characters face many problems, deal with relationships, struggle with money, and find out who their true friends are in the end. If you like dramatic, funny, and sad shows all in one, I highly recommend this.

3. Psych

My cousins told me about this show, and I immediately became OBSESSED. Shawn (left) is a ‘psychic’ who solves cases with the Santa Barbara police alongside his best friend Gus (right). While Shawn is not actually a psychic, every episode he gives us a reason to believe that he is. Warning: Throughout this show, you will find yourself wanting to be in criminal law.

4. How I Met Your Mother

I watched this show live every week, and when it came on Netflix I was ECSTATIC. (However, I must admit, the last season is very slow 😦 ) HIMYM is very similar to Friends in the sense that it’s about a group of friends living in New York, facing problems together. Every character adds a different, and funny, spin on the show, making it very difficult to watch one episode. If you’d like to start a funny show, HIMYM is the way to go.

5. Parenthood

This is my current FAVORITE show. Parenthood is based around the Braverman siblings- Adam, Sarah, Crosby, and Julia and all of the problems they face with their family. While Adam faces the difficulty of having a child with asperger’s and Sarah deals with being a single mother, the family goes through all their problems together. I HIGHLY recommend watching this show.

DIY Twine Photo Frame

You will need-

  • A picture frame (I found a lot of cheap ones at Michaels and Hobby Lobby)
  • Clothespins (Small ones work better because they don’t weigh as much!)
  • Twine
  • Tape/nails (I used tape because I knew it was strong enough to hold.)

Take out the glass and any paper inside. You won’t be needing it!

Flip the frame over, so you are on the backside. Then, measure out how long you want the twine to be! I did 3 strings because my frame wasn’t super large, so I didn’t have that much space to do more. (Make sure you leave plenty of space between the pieces because you need room for the photos! The photos will cause the twine to drop a bit, so keep that in mind.

This is the final look! I think it’d also be really cute to put a bunch of your plane tickets, movie tickets, etc. on this too!

(If the twine is drooping too much, then you can pull at the strand and tape it.  That will make it as straight and tight as you want it!)

I hope you liked my first actual blog post! It was a lot of fun to make, and I’m excited to post more!
